Questions

Fees, enrolment and everything else

Yes. Fees are pro-rated to the weeks remaining, and we provide the notes and homework already covered so a student can catch up. Late in the Year 4 cycle we will be frank about whether it is worth starting.

Eight, without exception. When a class reaches capacity we open another group rather than adding a ninth chair, which is also why some classes have a waiting list mid-term.

Sessions missed through illness can be credited to the following term or refunded, provided we receive a medical certificate. Absences for any other reason aren't refundable or creditable, but we'll always try to place your child in an alternative class that week so they don't lose ground. The earlier you tell us, the better our chances of finding a spot.

Yes. Ask us and we'll send the booklet home or email a PDF. The take-home page at the back is designed to be done without a tutor present, so a missed week doesn't have to become a gap.

Let us know in writing and we'll confirm your child's final session. Where term fees have been paid in full, any sessions remaining after that date are refunded to the original payment method. If you're partway through an instalment plan, we cancel the remaining instalments and invoice only for sessions already delivered.

Every session your child is given a printed booklet written in-house for that week. It opens with a short story that carries the week's idea, moves through warm-up and skill questions, then a full test-style task with lined pages, and closes with the marking rubric and a page where the tutor records the result with your child. Booklets are theirs to keep. By the end of term they hold a complete record of what was taught and how your child's writing changed.

Yes. There is no textbook to buy and no separate resource charge. Your child needs only a pencil case and a display folder to keep the term's booklets in.

We write all of it. Each week is planned against the NSW K–6 syllabus outcomes, and our marking rubric is built to reflect the same categories national writing assessments use: audience, text structure, ideas, vocabulary, and sentence-level control, so a child who improves here is improving in the things markers actually count. Ascent Academy is independent and is not affiliated with NESA, ACARA or ICAS.

Term by term is the default. Invoices are issued a fortnight before each term starts.

No. Same teacher, same materials, same class cap, same fee, and families can move between the campus and an online group week to week without telling us in advance.
